Dear Father Christmas

Dear Father Christmas

A Poem by Beccy
"

For my friend and longtime mentor Ewain Roberts. bendithia chi.

"

Sorry this is just a tad late,
and I know you'll be busy
with lots on your plate;
that my heartfelt request is a
mighty big ask, but I trust that
you're willing and up to the task.

One.

Write me an programme,
complex as you can,
that confuses all things
that are built to go bang.
Let me weave it within
the machines that make war;
Along wires and conduits
through every the back door,
where it waits patiently
with one eye on the clock,
ever tasked to allow
just the tick, not the tock.

Two.

Make me a potion
to blend with the air,
that will know when a man
doth quite solemnly swear,
'tis the truth that he speaks
not some self serving lie,
that once suitably clothed
he will seek to deny.
For each lie is a crack
in an unstable wall,
and each contributes
to its consequent fall.

three.

Send out a message
that all men are free,
that none are born high,
none ought bend at the knee;
save unto the one,
who hath fashioned this place
and who gave not a thought
to the difference of race;
who tells us that both
in our heart and our soul,
we are simply a part
of the sum, not the whole

Four.

On a slightly selfish note.
I know the weather is awful
and that both Prancer and Dancer
will doubtless overindulge on out of date
mince pies and cheap mulled wine, left out
for them by a curmudgeonly old poet
who hails from the wild hills of Wales.
But could I please have some fluffy slippers
and a large box of Cadburys milk tray.
Oh, and I almost forgot, perhaps just one
little kiss 'neath the mistletoe.
Not that I'm desperate, mind you...   :))

Festive and full of lovely and pertinent wishes for Christmas. Prayers from the heart are bound to be answered as your poetry is bound to greatness. Keep sending your messages and the Almighty will answer. Excellent in the whole...

Fluffy slippers, a box of chocs, world peace, and a snog under the mistletoe, but under no circumstances go down on bended knee. Okay, Beccy I've got that sorted for you. Though you must remember, a man is just for Xmas, after that he becomes burdensome and should be thrown out with the tree.

Should be made law, though they'd probably tax one. lol
I'm wildly jealous of your inventive imagination, rooted in down-to-earth meaning! I've thought a million times: "the only thing that matters is peace" -- but your idea of fouling all the guns! WOW! That is such a great way to show instead of tell. I love the main ideas you focus on, plus I'm admiring how you turn each phrase with a ton of intelligence & heart. This is one of the best Christmas poems EVER! Damn I wish I'd thought about fouling up all the guns. Somebody really needs to do that! *wink! wink!* Fondly, Margie

Wows!! The ' don't bend at the knee' to any mortal except bowing to the immortal creator, gosh that stanza really awed and floored me, rendered this poem so admirable!!! Kudos for such an awesomely rhymed and content poem. I shelved it.

Thanks jacob; a lovely song and well worth the listen.
i hope the speaker gets her kiss under the mistletoe...
there can be over-indulgence...it's Christmas...at least once a year...acceptable.
Yes, we are part of the whole....all of us....
Santa does not discriminate....neither does God, neither should we...
give the gift of love for Christmas.
beautifully endearing poem, Beccy.
