Panic Attack

Panic Attack

A Poem by BeeBev
"

A poem about my experiences with mental health and misunderstanding people

"
Come a little bit closer,
Closer still.
Now see through my eyes
Into my soul.
Discover the wonder
That lies within,
Explore at your leisure
The thoughts, the pain.
I need you to see,
I am out of control,
I cant help these thoughts,
I cannot let go.

Come a little bit closer,
Closer Still.
Feel the tears on my face,
Hold them if you will.
Feel the panic and confusion,
The dizzying fear.
Touch my sweat soaked skin
Hold me near.
I need you to feel,
I am out of control,
I cant stop the emotions
I cannot take hold.

Come a little bit closer,
Closer still.
Hear the quivering breath,
Escape against my will.
Listen to the thundering
Of my beating heart.
The pounding beast inside,
Breaking apart
I need you to listen,
I am out of control,
I can't help my words
I panic I know.

Please understand,
Tell me everythings okay,
Say I don't have to worry,
I have no need to be afraid.
Stop shouting when I need you,
Understand I'm not in control.
Stop hurting me with harsh words,
Understand I'm out of control,
Lay with me in silence,
Hold me in you arms.
Caress me with your kindness
Until this mind of mine is calm

This is one of the most intense poems I have read on this site. It grasps you by the lapels and pulls you close, that you might have some idea what the speaker is going through. Having worked in the mental health field, I have understood better than most the terror these people experience, but this offering showed me I did not understand the full reality of it. A very powerful piece here.
