If It's Happened Before, It'll Happen Again

just something i was feeling. i think I've been listening to a bit too much Secondhand Serenade :)

 

If it’s happened before,

It’ll happen again.

That’s what they always say.

You’d broken my heart once,

But I didn’t believe you’d do it again.

I gave you my heart on a string.

There were no rules in the game.

It all seemed perfect.

Everything seemed so right.

It seemed as though you really loved me.

But I must’ve missed the signs.

You just played me, like you’d done before.

And you got away with it, too,

Just like before.

You’d won,

Like always.

If it’s happened before,

It’ll happen again.

I know that now,

And you won’t fool me again.

I found this poem very enjoyable! I can relate to this. I loved the emotion portrayed in the poem. You knew what the person did and your heart was broken, but now you know better and won't let them fool you again. Great poem! :D
