A Poem by A. Kim Spradling
"

It helps to know.

"

Understanding for those who hurt us,

Is not always easy to do.

Do they understand the pain they cause?

I’m not sure they have the first clue!

Anger and hate is never the answer

For punishing those that you "love".

Some think that the absolute way

Is handled with a slap or a shove.

These words are not for the spiteful.

They are for the injured out there.

Even when one hurt you so badly,

You should not distrust those who care.

Because there has been much agony,

Does not mean you’ve suffered in vain!

It’s time to lay aside the fear,

And release the worry and strain.

When one truly loves another,

In their soul is real understanding.

Patience lives within their hearts.

Kindness overrules the demanding.

Please know!

I’m not so different than you!

I’ve endured a wound or two.

When I let go, my heart, it grew.

May the flame burn forever true.

Dear Belle Starr. I agree and I know. We can play both parts.
"I’m not so different than you!
I’ve endured a wound or two.
When I let go, my heart, it grew.
The flame that burns for you is true."
The above lines. True, perfect and wonderful. Thank you for sharing the amazing poetry.

Hard to forgive
Easier to forget
But to forgive and remember
Then share the surrender
Is strength

Relatable, the pain clearly present, the things that anyone who's ever been the jilted has wanted to say.

This is a comforting poem. It makes you step back and calmly reflect on your injuries in life and offers a sense of empathy and reassurance. I especially like the image "When I let go, my heart, it grew." It highlights an important way of healing.

You're welcome. =) It was a pleasure to read.
Here here- we need to let go and move on - can be the hardest thing for some to do but you set yourself free in the process of forgiveness and you allow yourself to heal- I do think that a lot of the people who treat others badly have deep underlying pain or some kind or rejection themselves- wise words here🌹

Physical abuse is common in relationships as I have observed the world over. Your poem is rebuking it very gently and leniently. Awesome rhyming, thoughts expressed in a very appealing way. Poetically excellent. Kudos.

I'm quite a newbie here, Pleez do review, write your thoughts under my newest poem too. Luv making friends and am used to exchange of comments.

This is both beautiful and moving, Belle. Your sentiments are heartfelt, and that comes across loud and clear. The message is strong and tremendously worthwhile. Forgiveness and understanding are both hard to achieve but absolutely essential in this unforgiving world!
Thank you for an interesting read, my friend.
