The Lie Of You And I

The Lie Of You And I

A Poem by Ben Barton
"

Funny, isn't it, how the people we hurt the most are the people we love the most. At least, it would be funny if it wasn't so damn painful.

"
This is not my home
You can't keep me trapped here
Oh God, am I trapped here?

This is not how I planned this out
How did I let this get away from me?
Oh God, get away from me

I can't pretend I didn't want it
I can't pretend I didn't know you'd hate it
I don't know if I regret it
I don't know why I even said it

But here we are
Trapped again
In the lie of You and I

This was actually an idea I had for a song, but I can't sing, so the song becomes a poem instead - which is why the rhythm isn't obvious. It's hard to convey musical melody without a voice haha

You could explore 'rapping' the words of your write - with perhaps adding a few here and there to bulk out the piece. having said that; I get where you are coming from with this; there are many 'trapped' in an unmeaningful relationship - best to end than eventually become an unhealthy affair (for both parties) ... :-)
