Twice Dead

Twice Dead

A Poem by BenightedWhispers
"

This is like a soliloquy about a lover's romantic feelings rekindled only to be shattered once again, bringing back memories of another tragic love.

"

Twice Dead

“My love I thought once was gone, forever to plague me of its memory.

My frozen heart cursed to stay forever unchanged in an indifferent world.

One day all was bright when you looked me in the eyes.

The warmth radiating from your lips pushed forward the unmoving time.

However the clock moved much too fast,

And once again I must say goodbye.

Goodbye to the happiness that I thought had died.

Goodbye to the feeling of being whole

Instead of a hole in a very dark place.

Forever it will be winter in my mind.

A cold blizzard I must welcome like an old unwanted friend.

Icicles surround my throat like a noose tightening until I can no longer breathe.

My eyes will be clouded with memories of you that will be too hard to bear.

I will die in the abysmal blackness I’m forced back into.

I wonder if I should’ve loved you at all.

Perhaps it was better to only be dead once.”
