FLICKERA Poem by BettyA flicker it was, not today but on days long past Just a thing of beauty, when darkness rules the sky; Its presence seemed as if it had a spell to cast A spell to vanish all of humanities sigh; The meaning of life when with a flicker lived Was beauty I thought; oh, but what a fool I was. I felt all motion of the sound simmer of peace, I felt love and bliss, and believed they would never cease, I also felt the glare of danger lurking in the mist, But that only shocked back to life a dead vein of mine; A vigorous vein that once heartened the muscles of my fist; And so this flicker I thought of, as no other but divine; Oh, but soon I knew just what a fool I was, When a furious flame grew out of the flicker it once was, And turned all those around me to ashes weak and fragile, Ashes, the wind took at bay with a blissful smile. © 2013 BettyAuthor's Note
