WICKED RAINS

WICKED RAINS

A Poem by Betty Hermelee
"

nature

"
Sun heats my mood
burns my flesh
dries my eyes
shrivels flora

Drives my thirst for wicked rains
to crash through angry clouds
pummel my body, all the earth around me
dwell in forests
sniff damp air
sense water droplets
on velvet leaves
linger, respect, savor

i see "wicked rains" as an oxymoron....because rain, to me, is like a baptism...it is like a refreshing of the soul, a starting over...
new life...as in April with its spring showers bringing those May flowers...and the reawakening of all that has died from winter....
nicely done,
j.

This is a powerfully-stated, yet simple poem, all about feeling the message, and almost no cerebral tangles (my preference). Great use of dynamic verbs & popping word choices for all the senses. Even tho I am normally tuned into nature, I can't help but read this as a poem about having a long dry spell with regards to almost anything in life that one wishes could be streaming passionately into one's life again. (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie
