IMMORTALS

IMMORTALS

A Poem by Betty Hermelee
"

Haiku, nature

"
Orange sun descends
as red super moon prevails
darkness lures spirits
Ghostly night creatures
stir in the the thick dark forest
a high screech echoes
Dawn draws a day star
as chilled night immortals sleep
roosters crow, birds sing

I love how each poem is a complete stand-alone & yet they all go together well, too. #1 -- love the juxtaposition of orange sun & red moon -- nicely imaginative! #2 -- love taking a spooky turn in the middle of an otherwise celebratory poem. #3 -- love the juxtaposition of dawn star & chilled night, which parallels the comparison in #1, like bookends showing life's curve balls (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

Betty, immortal is nature, though individual lives come and go. Though three separate poems that stand well alone, I think it works well as one, too. Splendid imagery and good flow.

the combination works so well..three haiku that work alone but also as one when put together...
Mortals have to sleep...those immortal only come out at night.
