FRIENDSHIP

FRIENDSHIP

A Poem by Betty Hermelee
"

A happy poem after a few dark ones

"
We blink in sync
five seconds, he's astray
the red head Finch greets me in the morn
in a distinct and inviting play

We cement our friendship
he lands on his perch at dawn
wings flutter, our cryptic wave
he chirps to arouse, as I stretch and yawn

I don't have much to do at LinkedIn, so sorry
This is delightful! I love the finches that come to our feeder. Every now and then, in summer, we have a goldfinch that comes to visit with his less flamboyant brothers and sisters. He's drop dead gorgeous. I enjoyed your poem.

dear Betty... we must have learned the “art of love” from our winged friends. Your poetry is intrinsic intimacy on an apple blossom tree of Spring conspiracies. truly, Pat

Such a sweet poem I can just imagine that finch chirping and fluttering and inviting you to play. Great imagery.

Was my pleasure to read :)
Love this one, reminds me of Arthur Godfrey's Breakfast Club from the 40s. This delightful exchange between feathered friend reminds us all of the narrow straits separating God's sentient creatures. The rhyme adds amplifies. Your imagery and narrative development are impressive, as is your knack for communication with your breakfast guest. I had a similar experience with a robin that spent a season tapping daily on my window pane and following me from room to room. I could share that poem if you like. It was posted some years back. The last two commas confuse. Great work, Betty. You show notable growth in presentation.

Very true! I wish I really had a a sweet bird to wake me, thanks for your chirpy comment!
Sometimes an animal in its innocent ways can lift a human heart. Perhaps we should pay more attention to the animals in our lives these days.

Yes we should! Thanks for your kind comment.
'We blink in sync... ' friends from the moment your paths cross of a morning. What a way to start the day.

Your words could so easily be lyrics! There's literally a light as a feather dance of exchange tween you and that bird - what wonderfully smile-proof dawns you share, Bette. Thank you so much for making me smile. Keep safe, please

Not really sure if the window cleaner has come early, or left early.
Sort of like the idea of waking up with the birds mind you.
