Reflections

A Poem by William Michael Reeves
"

A trio of poems inspired by poems I read last week

"
In JE Falcon's poem 'Question Me This' the Poet of Prey asks questions....and I answered.

Longing paints deep the colors of my Sol.

Radiant tears of opaque whispers and sighs.

Reds on fire and tangerine dreams of desire
Reveal golds that sing in my heart and flies.

The music of her love is the note of my whole
Keeping time with the sun and the skies above.

With my memories in hand and she by my side
Together we fly as one heart winged like a dove.

But peace can be fleeting and sad hard to hide
Her cry is a rain, a pain that needs to be bled.

With arms open wide I shelter her frightened soul
Enveloping her warmth until the tempest has fled.

Cherrie Palmer asks...'Is This Love'

I hear your warmth answer me
Writing truth in smoke and fire
Speaking freely you said we
Could start our hearts on a pyre
Flaming visions of desire
Force the freedom to be one
And wear the gem we acquire
Forever dreams in the sun.

I calmed your soul with my hand
Tiny fingers laughed and smiled
Stood on words that ran on hand
Catching dreams like snowflakes piled
Spells of kisses writ and filed
On your lips my heart has won
Enchanted love rides unbridled
Forever dreams in the sun.

I caught your need on the wind
Caressing thoughts heartbeats slow
The lust of youth is not a sin
Taking care to gently show
The seed of love our lives sow
Beats together like a drum
Planting trust hot whispers blow
Forever dreams in the sun.

And in the all we defeat our foes
Living lives of sunshine love and fun!

Writergurl said 'It's Been Awhile'.

When you do smile your death slips
Forgotten for a moment as our words play
When life turns your path on a new way
And the frown you wear clearly flips
It has its own style
Since death dies when you smile!

Author's Note

The thing for Cherrie's poem is a ballade. I intentionally left the second couplet out so my couplet slips between hers and she finishes it with her amazing line. For you purists who want that second couplet, just ask. I'll give it to you.

reflections on love, on peace, on pain....on dreams, on passion, on inspiration, on caressing...the way you weave your words (and others) to achieve a beautiful balance....you and your muse together as one "flaming visions of desire".....And you're on a new path, one which makes you smile, out of the darkness and into the radiant sun.I like the fabric of this poem, very interesting.

My suggestion for You is to post this as three reflections, reflection one =poem one, refection two=poem two, reflection three=poem three.

Review one; incredible, You took us into your world and into different worlds, worlds of love and creation, inspiration and abundance. I see your muse not only by your side but also You by her side, a strong bond of give and take.

Review two; WOW! so BEAUTIFUL! are You ever empty of expressions?! I don't thing so! this is like the loveliest song of love, I feel two lovers swing with harmony as one, she became You and You became she.

Review three; again the smile right? it does magic doesn't it? yes we both know that it certainly does :>

Wonderful. Discovery really is the opening line of writing. So often I read something that blooms and blends into something new.
You do this wonderfully.

You picked well, three fine poets doing what they do, giving inspiration. I particularly like the "And in the all we defeat our foes" stanza, adds a solidity to the feeling that brings hope and joy in a life that sometimes it takes turning over a few leaves to find. Great writing and perfect tribute.

Hey Bill. ... I'm sorry this took so long. I was right in the middle of a project and hadn't had time to circle back. --- Anyway, now that I've read it, here is what I think: You have a well-written, "stand-alone", poem here. I especially liked the lines, "With arms open wide I shelter her frightened soul
Enveloping her warmth until the tempest has fled" --- --- Even though you are answering my poetic questions, you needn't be concerned with that as a reference. Why? Because your style in this poem is so different from mine. And even more important, what you've written doesn't need explaining, your 5th line tells the "Who" and the "Why" --- "The music of her love is the note of my whole". ... So, what do I think? I think it's great!

That is what I did to get a feel for your answers. --- Have fun!
To be inspired by other poets in a way that can offer ideas for poems is something I never thought about, funny enough. I think I'm always afraid of stealing some idea without knowing it. ha You do a splendid job of being inspired and using it to your advantage.

Great trio of poems, Bill. :)

Ahhh, inspiration.. Interesting where it comes from..right... Mine comes to me out of the blue.. I feel this unbelievable pull to quickly sit down and write..Perhaps, it is my thoughts that inspires me..and where does that thought come from? Sometimes I feel that I am not actually writing... so strange..
I also, have been inspired at times when I see a work of art..
Reading your background as a nurses aide, makes me think that you have many thoughts about your time at work and there must be great inspiration there.
I came across you by chance when reading your wonderful reviews for poets works. I have been quite impressed with all that you say.
Only started submitting my work, for the first time anywhere, about two months ago (even though I have been writing for many years) so, this is quite a new adventure for me...
I plan to read more of yours..Perhaps if you find the time you might enjoy reading my poem
