Awaken

Awaken me to the day.

I wish inspiration over the tree line would peek

The forest crest at which I seek

I wish from here, the rays I’d find

To shine on me and wake my mind

I’ve been in slumber through the night

Now praying that dawn’s light might

Shine through me and chase away lulls

Pull me through to my day’s toils

I wish the sun to wake me up

Shine to wake

Awake my soul from night to day

Allow me to be on my way

I enjoyed this. I am not a morning person and can't relate to waiting on the sun to rise but the beginning reminded me of something I wrote when I was inspired by a lack of inspiration and wanted so desperately to just write. This poem kind of makes me want to change my habits and wake up before the sun and wait for it to rise. The speaker sounds so ready to take on the day!
