Nightmare Reality

If waking up FROM a nightmare is awful, try waking up TO one.

Tick Tock 

Goes the clock

Around me

The silence mocks

Nightmares unfold

A horror to behold

The animosity leaks

As old wood floorboard creaks

The wind whispers lies

I try to close my eyes

Around me, my fears

Tonight are coming alive

Used to be able to sleep

But no longer, no more

The shadows paint the gore

Making my mind sore

The evil creature in my closet

Is no longer held back by a door

The monster under my bed

Tugs at my hair

Giving me a scare

Nothing as it seems

Choking out my screams

The voices in my head

Cause me to see the red

Hallucinations ensue

Old fears become new

The window shatters

Like everything that matters

Suddenly chained to the bed

Can’t move

Gagged, can’t scream

Open tear-filled eyes to see

It’s a Nightmarish Reality

Thank you. I have woken up to a nightmare before as well. I do so every day. It is called reality, and although so many have come to accept it, I resent it and its terrors.

Dark and captivating. Quite an image you've painted, and what a raw feeling you've captured. It makes me a bit scared just to read about the things you endure here. I've got nightmares of my own, but they're not as overwhelming as these. impressive how you channelled it into a poem.

My friend, going to sleep to nightmares is not difficult. It is waking up to them that is truly terrifying.

I hear you, in 90% of my dreams I'm either shot, hung, decapitated, drowned, or eaten alive is a really popular one.

I can sympathize, only my "dreams" last for days, weeks, months, sometimes even years. I have woken up and did not even know where I was, who I was, and so on more times than I care to count. It usually takes anywhere from 10 minutes to an hour to recover my memory.

That is something I have wondered for a long time, but as far as a psychiatrist giving me some tips on how to fix it, there is none around here, or any online I could afford to speak with. I study about it as much as I can, but I have yet to figure out what makes my mind do this.
