Never Gone

Never Gone

A Poem by N.B. Cala

I’m letting go, I slip away.
Gone but still there,
Like a faded memory, a vanishing thought, an elusive feeling
Like the presence of a loved one passed on
Gone but still there.

I can’t hold on, I lose my way.
Gone but still there,
Like a mountain peak enveloped in a heavy mist
Like the sun in the dark of night
Gone but still there.

With your steps forward, I drift back.
Gone but still there,
Like a friend across continents, beyond an embrace
Like the paralyzing doubts I try to evade
Gone but still there.

With the passage of time,
To you I’m gone

but still there.
