I Thought We Had More time

A heart became broken, that none could mend. She took to the universe to seek my replacement. I had such dark hair and big brown eyes, she had such dark hair and big brown eyes. Our guardian who loved us found that sunshine could rise again.

But, back I came, by the grace of God just a little older. To sit, to stand beside my lifelong bonded friend.
I was older, but she was wiser and no passing of time or continent of space made strangers of us two.

BUT...I thought we had more time, my friend, to gather together as the three. To return for just a moment in time. To laugh those all night giggles and travel through those much loved days of youths in Paris.
We are the silver haired ladies you left behind as you rest in peace.
Peace Amelia, we won't be too long to follow you to our next big adventure.

This is a heartbreaking poem, Bonnie, but written with sincerity, humility and wisdom. Sadly, it often takes a tragedy this, the loss of a loved one, to shake us and remind us the clock is ticking. We do take so much for granted, not the least are those standing to our right and left. A touching piece and heartfelt tribute others should read.
