Animus

Animus

A Poem by Jordan Avechuco
"

Relieving some tension.

"

Losing everything you love develops a certain kind of animus within an individual,

The kind that can only be satisfied by taking matters into your own hands and creating your own reality.

A reality in which you set fire to the souls of your oppressors and come down with a wrath so merciless that it feeds the rage within only making your willingness to give in to these urges stronger,

Making the voices louder...

Don't give in,

Don't let them drag you down to their level,

Your anger will destroy you if you let it.

You are better than this,

We are better than this.

Together we can regain control,

And salvage from our loss.

Together we will put an end to the destruction that surrounds us,

Together we can find the light in this endless dark.

Hope lives within the ones you love,

So take my hand and together we will find a way out.

"there's no aphrodisiac like loneliness. truth, beauty, and a picture of you"

This is an incredible piece with a revolutionary but also compassionate spirit to it, love the overall concept, how you applied the Jungian psychology concept (with which the poem was appropriately named to draw wandering eyes like mine to investigate what the application of the concept could be), as well as the boldness, simplicity, and sheer force of it. There is definitely a motivational energy to this poem, very encouraging and uplifting which is not something found in abundance in contemporary writers. Keep up the fantastic work, am definitely looking forward to exploring more of your work as soon as humanly possible, especially if they have such amazing diction and impact as this one. I definitely consider this piece to be a hit among your other works!
