Lashing Out

Lashing Out

A Poem by Yue Zhang

Your cruel words crack the smooth surface of my mirror

Reflecting all your anguish and fear

Upon others you always heap

Your displeasure, your discomfort, and your anger

Your tongue is always sharply cutting others down

Not caring that in misery they will drown,

May you feel better when you’ve let it out

So that someone else will be forced to shout

Their pain and misery at another

Poor, unlucky fellow that happens to pass by
