How Cruel is This Place

How Cruel is This Place

A Poem by Bra.Kofi
"

this is our world

"
In a town where our grief severes
We vend our hurt souls of lenity
In pursuit of pure serenity
Our souls incessantly wail
For nothing but pure entail
The earth has risen above our eyes
And buried our conscience’s hikes
Everything the heart feels is bitter
Searingly sour, our souls wither

How cruel is this place?

The man who walks with his head
above his shoulders has nothing but a bed
“Break your backs”
“Break your necks”
They told us
This place isn’t for us
We strived to live with our hearts
But how could we win
In a place strange to it scarts?

I had to go to the dictionary on 'lenity', and vend does not seem to fit. I like the promise here. Keep working.
