Walled In

Walled In

A Poem by Light
"

about walls! i hate those dreadful things

"
July 2011
Walled existence
Was all he knew;
Alone and dying
In an empty room.

Cardboard confines
Restraints for weak men.
Him and his dead soul
With ambitions to live

Woe and wailing hearts
And failing resolve
Marked his sole fear
To fell paper walls

From dying God
To not at all
Paralyzed with doubt
An old man falls.

The ground violently
Quivers and quakes
Walls tremble and shake
And tumble down.

A dead man laughs
As he looks past
Crashed walls
To see that nothing
Has changed at all.

Just four walls
And his empty room.
Restricted reality;
The only life he knew.

Sad write for the old man, wonderfully told. The depth of this piece is thought provoking as one wonders why it is the only life he has ever known....

Ach, this is moving. We fear the things you describe. They are reality for many. I esp like, 'Paralyzed by dount//an old man falls' and the entire last verse.
