Th effect of smoke is all too apparent, when you live as close to Antarctica as I do.

It took me 2 hours, under threat of electrocution, in the bath, to write this* and I, myself, thought that it would be a quick five to ten minute jot. It's surprising to see how unexpectedly time consuming brevity can be sometimes!
In regard to the question mark, it was simply a force of grammatically-correctly aspiring tic/habit to conclude a questioning statement with one.
It did read less blatantly without one...
OK, that's it. I'm changing it.
Technically, a question mark might have been used at the end of the statement which you posted, John.
