Rubber

Rubber

A Story by Brett Pritchard
"

Moving at great speed and velocity, hope is anger and fluiditiy today.

"

The disparity between the body and the mind increases as I approach the barrier.

The heart pushes harder as this frame cries intolerance.

Every fiber is shredded and reconstituted with each sharp hot breath.

Limbs burn like hot rubber, yet nearer still lie’s the endgame.

Speed increases.

The world grows fuzzy at the edges, a border of grey enclosing around all that is seen, as intensity passes beyond accepted parameters.

Dreamlike now….

All a swirling cacophony of aches and screams and velocity and hope, all else ceases to substantially exist.

Fading into the distance…

There is only this protesting vessel redefining its limits, its insane captain growing ever closer to voyages end.

Full speed ahead….
