-GOODBYE, MY LOVE

-GOODBYE, MY LOVE

A Chapter by Brian Kraklau

she woke up to me gone

it was one cold Sunday

another cup of coffee gone stale

another ship set sail

another faded folk song

I ought to let you know

my duty calls me to go

oh, babe, you must accept

the tides all call me to exit

this we both must not forget

years ago I was Dylan

trading the sensations of childhood

finding a guitar in the attic

doing all that I should

this innocence became obsolete

growing up and breaking out

walking right through the static

we see these things around

buried deep in the carpet

dirt of the years

tied to our face

you were the first to see it

the work changed in destination

switching the gears

time rusted my bones

but freedom came knocking

Jim and his brother knew

the days of old blew away

dust brushed off my shoes

leaving my breath lounging in the air

words couldn't come to say

on this early morning dew

leaping off this stage of lights

you expect rain to come from my skies

oh, darling don't hold your hands open

these clouds are all lies out in the field

tonight I is someone else's possession

chains of these you have chosen

don't worry these cracks will be healed

and now I sit alone in this scene

I have all I ever wanted

the air is clear in this smoke

the fog has risen away

babe, you must see what they mean

the hallway was chill

the sound of footsteps were there

they must be taken

to get above this stair well

and breath the fresh air

I must press on

the theme of our time

a torch of light in the dark

must be carried home

ran to my front door

sealed in our mark

flushed on through the vine

the time has come, my love

I must fulfill what I must do

though this love be strong

my soul walks another path

I must go on, my love

I must press on

I love you.

No easy goodbyes in a life. Each one become a part of us. I like the description and the story in the outstanding poem.
