-THERE'S STILL NOBODY HOME

-THERE'S STILL NOBODY HOME

A Chapter by Brian Kraklau

life comes and goes just as the windows are tamed,

            the buildings go up,

                        labeled,

                        named,

such beasts of human nature,

tossing genocide into a new light,

the American future screams to be heard,

            before it's too late,

have you seen the doors open,

to blessings of the days thought,

could such pirates find these keys,

could there be a human,

            left inside,

            hearts in mind,

tossed to and fro as the waves crash,

the coins clang to the floor,

            ring, ring,

                        goes the phone,

but there's no one home tonight,

                        the wings have taken flight,

                                    feet running into the night,

           to distant lands,

palaces that even Gulliver hadn't seen,

just as the toys display a demon in costume,

            this child must be punished,

                        that one's black,

                        and that one's a Jew,

that one has too much to say,

                        that one's weird,

                        and that one's gay,

           they all must suffer,

tossed into the grind if they not be as we are,

mere pawns in a tyrants fist,

            oh angel,

pick up the phone,

                        I need you,

            to come home.
