As My Mind Wanders

As My Mind Wanders

A Poem by Broken.

I watch you spin from afar...

and far away I am,

from the warmth of your heart.

I run my finger over the scars

that show how much it hurts being far from you.

I know what you do.

You push people away

in hopes of being alone,

and I ask,

"Why would you want to be alone?"

Especially when I am always here for you?

But swallowing sadness,

shouldn't be the only option.

I am as rich in insecurities

as you are in anger and carelessness.

I am camoflagued by my sadness,

as you are in a loss for words.

Listen to the wind,

it has a heartbeat.

A heartbeat that could beat

forever in your mind,

to remind you that you're alive,

and it is mine.

You're welcome! I enjoy your writing.
Some people are afraid of intimacy, so they push people away. They are afraid of closeness, probably because they don't want to get hurt or maybe they don't like commitment. Their lack of feeling can impact greatly on others. You had me reflecting on people I have known.

Touching. Even though saying the wind has a heartbeat seems a little counter-intuitive as an image, the image that follows in the last four lines is really beautiful.
