ITS TO HIS GLORY THAT I RIDE

ITS TO HIS GLORY THAT I RIDE

A Poem by Don Shaw
"

This was never your life to begin with Don . Go on back, I got this, and carry the message of MY LOVE !

"
                             ITS TO HIS GLORY THAT I RIDE !

                Riding down the highway. wind was in my face.
                Feeling gratitude in my soul , my mind began to race.
                Thoughts of my past came in , not regretting the things Ive done.
                Feeling love from the Father , and what Ive overcome.
                ITS TO HIS GLORY THAT I RIDE!
                ITS TO HIS GLORY THAT I RIDE!
                ITS TO HIS GLORY THAT I RIDE!
                with His angels on either side.
                oh yes His angels. Yes His angels.....On either side!

                All the times Ive cheated death , most would have merely died.
                Feeling love from the Father , its to His glory that i ride !
                When in my cranial chamber , I start to have some doubt.
                I pray for His Holy Spirit , to shut the devil out !

               ITS TO HIS GLORY THAT I RIDE !
               ITS TO HIS GLORY THAT I RIDE !
               ITS TO HIS GLORY THAT I RIDE !
               with His angels on either side .
               oh yes His angels. Yes His angels.....On either side!

               Rolling hills of THUNDER , my pipes make a ROAR !
               Soul of anticipation , of what the Father has in-store .
               Echo`s across the valley , saving souls along the way.
               Its all for His GLORY , that i ride another day.
               Its for His glory, that i ride..Yes His glory.....and His angels,,,oh His angels.
               ON EITHER SIDE!

Dear Don

My second of three short reviews of your writing today.

Now I am totally drawn in.

As I say to break my normal habit, these are brief reviews by my norm.

As for comments I have these.

Your poetry in its rhyme, rhythm and chorus is majestic. Again I can hear this easily sung as a hymn.

The lines that I loved especially and to which I relate most are these:

"All the times I've cheated death , most would have merely died.
Feeling love from the Father , its to His glory that i ride !
When in my cranial chamber , I start to have some doubt.
I pray for His Holy Spirit , to shut the devil out !"

Two thoughts:

1) I relate to the notion of doubt when the going gets tough and the need for prayer to find solace in Christ's message.

I am in the position of the 'going getting tough' at the moment and I spend much time in prayer trying to deal with the issues which are arising in my life and those others it affects.

2) In my illness (bipolar disorder) I feel I have cheated death many times.

When alone, isolated from the world and suicidal, I remember feeling as if it were real an arm being put round my shoulder and a voice saying:

'It's OK. Everything will be alright in the end'.

That soft comfort helped me and I re-found the will to live and reread the 23rd Psalm which can only ever apply to us inside or outside belief.

I wish to repeat them here, for your sake, mine and whoever else is listening and going through hard times.

The 23rd Psalm follows:

"The Lord’s my Shepherd, I’ll not want;
He makes me down to lie
In pastures green; He leadeth me
The quiet waters by.
My soul He doth restore again,
And me to walk doth make
Within the paths of righteousness,
E’en for His own name’s sake.
Yea, though I walk in death’s dark vale,
Yet will I fear no ill;
For Thou art with me, and Thy rod
And staff my comfort still.
My table Thou hast furnished me
In presence of my foes;
My head Thou dost with oil anoint,
And my cup overflows.
Goodness and mercy all my life
Shall surely follow me;
And in God’s house forevermore,
My dwelling place shall be"

Your writing is full of hope, joy, love and meaning.

Thanks for the review. I love riding in the hills for sure.
I hear this being set to a country tune, played in churches to rally the faithful. Good write!
