To Felicia of Dakar

To Felicia of Dakar

A Poem by Malcolm J. Watt
"

Barkeep, another round for my friends-Sir you are alone-No I'm not.

"

Dear lone daughter of the Demah clan

Last remanent in this world of turmoil.

Oh mourning for those who have perished!

What love can this beleaguered soul

Standing so alone in the Raven's nest

Send across the battered globe

To that teeming place on Africa's shore

Where Sengal's river meets the sea?

One tiny prayer from unclean lips. That's all.

Would the universe hear. Would it care?

What time does the sun order

To deliver Felicia over the border.

No, It is the question of our hearts

That is the source of our despair

Not the desire of this world's money

Or the crushing weight of mankind's ignorance.

Adios Amigo.
