Mclure Lake: Autumn

Mclure Lake: Autumn

A Poem by Malcolm J. Watt
"

I'd like to think this is the essence of Canada.

"

Mclure Lake: Autumn

I am sorry to say

We have yet to translate

The peace of an autumn lake,

Calm beyond reason

Quieter than a heatbeat,

Into the battered souls

Found between the poles.

Love so expressed

Cannot be shown,

Only experienced.

Should the travellers

Be refreshed by such joy

Then perhaps someday

That wilderness peace

Now so far from man

May reside not just here

But where the conflict began.
