A Prayer For The World In Need

On this day with technology

Overflowing media venues and internet

Videos and images of a world

Twisting peace into pure chaos.

 

Bombs and guns

Float upon howling winds

Echoeing the sounds of violence

Rattling and shaking at our world.

 

Innocent blood stained

Upon holy grounds

As the screams for change

Can be heared all over the world.

 

Velveteen dreams of peace

And harmony fill children minds

Shedding many tears, drenched in crimson

When they should be having fun.

 

Fires and smoke, disease and decay

Kings sit upon golden thrones

With no feelings of pity or

One ounce of much needed remorse.

 

People of the world, powerless

With nothing but a voice

And a prayer in their minds

For a world in desperate need.

A short write written for class in regards to the violence happening in Syria.

I couldn't help but reading this in that "poetry slam voice" if you know what i mean. It just had that sort of punctuated but flowing rhythm to it - a very good thing. The flow of it in itself put the power and emotion into the words building on that which the words themselves already bring forth.

Syria had lost their minds. USA torn apart Iraq and left her in a mess. Africa is starving. Million died monthly of hunger. More then all the war of 67 years will died homeless and hungry. I pray for common sense. Hard to find good things in a life. But we must. The youth of this world have a lot of repair. Sent food and medicine. Not guns and violence. Your poem is very good. Made me think this morning. A excellent poem.
