Everything Will Be Okay

Inspired by a review.

I have seen the darkness

Caged inside every man

Locked, tightly for eternity

Only chosen to be let into the light.

 

A bone breaks, a bruise heals

And every broken memory

Starts to fade away, forgotten

In burning ashes floating in the winds.

 

Needles pressed against skin

Causing only minor damage

To the innocence of a child

Forced into the cold darkness.

 

Lies built upon lies

To fill the universe to the edge

Being left to discover the truth

Of what is rightfully certain.

 

Damaged by broken pasts

In a eternity of strangled hope

Echoeing cries howling in the night

Memories I will never forget.

 

Beaten, battered and used

By love, and still I hold my head

Higher each time I fall

From the heavens and the clouds.

 

Broken, I will be

But only for a short time

I am on the side of living life

And I know everything will be okay.

 

As the stars continue to shine

Each night I am breathing and alive

Break me, shame me, do your worst

Eventually I know I will be fine.

Author's Note

Life always bites you and brings out the worst in you. As long as you breathe in air, you are alive. Be thankful for what life has to offer.

I am learning that I do not have to create poems myself to express deep things, that I can absorb the words of my dear poetry friends. A dark part of our reality so beautifully put down, that's the power of a pen....
The flicker of hope in the end tells us that darkness sooner or later has to fade. A well balanced poem.... By the way you might want to put a right article in this line: "In *an* eternity of strangled hope"...
