Clarity...

Clarity...

A Poem by Broken Wings
"

A moment in thought, a lifetime of change.

"

There was a girl who cared for all except herself

Others always came first, her life left on the shelf

It sat there collecting dust; it was too hard to look

And too difficult to open, that cold and dusty book

She spent her days helping whoever was in need

She hoped through sacrifice, she would no longer bleed

To fight for right and justice, she had something to prove

Dedicated and determined, there was nothing left to lose

To free her of the past and the dark demons it hides

To free her of relapsing trauma that ensues down inside

Set free from yesterdays, the hurt and pain it brought

Though many she had helped, she still remained distraught

Truth was, she was broken, trapped inside the dark

Forsaken by those who left destructive marks

The sanguine sun rose up, dawning a new conception

A renewed sense of self, divine appreciation

Grateful for the struggles, for all the pain and tears

No sun without the rain, just wasted youth-filled years

For through the haze and fumble, she found love and empathy

Circumambient fog dissipates, now she can clearly see

It made her who she is; it formed her innate nature,

Breaching the genetic code that tried to restrict her

A lifetime of burden, now a lifetime of creation

And she will keep creating, until her final destination

I enjoyed the story in the poem. The above lines were my favorite. There is logic and wisdom in your words. A lifetime of burden does teach us we are worthwhile and needed till the end. Thank you for the outstanding poetry.

This poem combines an intriguing, uplifting story ( The sanguine sun rose up, dawning a new conception ) that so encapsulates the reader's imagination with its vivid, descriptive poetic lines, ( Circumambient fog dissipates, now she can clearly see ) another example.

A marvelous poem, I enjoyed it immensely, well penned !

I like the words you use in this one. I can see your skills growing with each new write. This has a nice flow, I think its much better as a read aloud piece, you can almost sing it. The imagery used is nice, I like the reference to the book as her life, collecting dust as she focuses on everything else but herself. I also like the optimism at the end, the 'ah' moment in life when something clicks and you come to a realization is just so freeing and beautiful. Really enjoyed this, I think you are trying new things and I see you developing well, keep writing and learning and branching out my friend. The more you try new things, the more you will learn too.
