NEVER A TANGO (NEVER A DANCE OF TWO)

NEVER A TANGO (NEVER A DANCE OF TWO)

A Poem by CAPOLAVORO
"

A collab dance with wordman...

"
The music is set
Vinyl turning slowly
Sweet lovely tunes of honesty
Here comes the dance with one desire
Only one, desires

My body moves closely towards him
Poised, walking slowly with poise
But my heart is not his--
Started with an embrace
Now, I felt his heart rate raise

his heart rate rises
as he places his hand in mine
slowly moving with the music
as  his mind wanders back in time
with a native girl he left behind

once he fell in love
with a beautiful native girl,
as she danced, her body would twirl
taking him back to a place and time
where his love is not mine

But I want him to be mine
I want him to come back in the present
As he raises his left hand
I wrapped my arms around him
Hoping he'd smell my scent

Slow, slow, quick, quick, slow
My mind is running to and fro
Feet together, moving left to meet right
Hoping he'd fall in love with me tonight
Even if I know this aint' right

I placed my hand on his
his hand on my waist
our hips moving to the music
as hearts pounds and seeks

My body swaying
into the music beat
almost gliding, not moving his feet
my body presses into his
Desperate for his love and kiss

Now his feet together, moving right to meet left
Hoping he'd not notice my desperate breath
Repeat! as I add flare to the step
A counter-clockwise move
And a love that I need to prove

Long and Fluid strides
My heart for you cries
Swivel and turns died
As our movements lied
Only one, desires

Dancing near each other
Never with each other
I put flare on my steps
But I know I'll never have his stare
In a dance that is not fair

A beautiful write by you. Flow, elegance, imagery, passion plus so much more. Very well done 😊

there are throes of passion in the dance from her side...and yet for him, she is but a substitute partner.
that is so sad...because this kind of dance should be done with equal intent and feeling from both sides.
It takes two to tango...not one and a half.
strong piece of writing here.

*Welcome to "Pure Rhymes" Thanks for joining, great to have you...!*

A fluid dance of liquid embrace shared... A smooth glide of poised prose... Native girls he left behind... A stare that will never be mine... Gorgeous...

Wonderfully penned, Capolavoro!
I love how this piece hones in on specific details and guides the reader, moment by moment, through the speaker's thoughts. I also enjoyed the subtle contrast in that the two characters were close physically, but far apart mentally.
Though I found some of the rhymes a bit jarring (I'll explain this more if you'd like), the overall essence of this poem bled through with eloquence, clarity, and (most importantly) emotion. Bravo!

Repeat! as I add flare to the step ~ A counter-clockwise move ~ And a love that I need to prove'

There's nothing like a tango to get the juices flowing.. or words as sensual and inviting and breath-takingly written.. All of it, start to finish, vastly improves a damp grey day.
