The sun is on my back

you are on my mind

reasons not to be with you

are getting harder to find

you’ve been in my heart now

for so many years

finally saying "I love you"

brings me to tears

you make me feel special

you make me feel alive

but the love we share

we’d always have to hide

I never wished to cause you pain

or for you to feel you’d loved in vain

but there’s something about you

something I need

something that fills my heart with greed

I just wanted one moment

maybe just one kiss

just one chance to touch you

and see all that I have missed

you’ve been in my heart now

for so many years

Carrie, my heart is filled with sadness, as i read your poem. Love can be a cruel and wonderful Mistress at the time, mixing joy with the sorrow. Sometimes, we just have to walk away, leaving our hearts in that place, which is inexcesssable to us. In order to protect us from further harm.
