The biggest man WE know...

Sometimes i sit and wonder

"how do you define a man?"

is it measured by your wealth,

your strength or how tall you stand?

 

As a policeman stands behind his badge

or a solder by his gun,

there are so many different areas

and incorrect, there are none.

 

We all have our opinion

so now i'll tell you mine,

its none of what we read above

but something found inside.

 

a man has to love his children

love and support his wife,

and the one true test that I believe

for hie loved would he give his life?

 

I see this in my father

his wife see's it in his eyes,

his sons and daughters cherish him

from what he shows inside.

 

to be a man its not material

and none of that is he,

but he's the biggest man we know

because to his heart WE hold the key.

Absolutely beautiful! I love all that you put into this piece. It is a very ponderous question, what makes a man. I like that you used that as the basis for a lot of things in this poem. A man is a very complex creature, and its interesting to wonder the different ways that they effect a variety of people in their lives: children, wives, others around them.
