They both had their first theatrical experiences in the 1930's. Both became professional singers and actors in the 1940's. Both worked with the artistic elite. In 1966, they met in Hannover, Germany at the opera. They married and began singing together. Almost 140 years of theatrical experience, if you put their experiences together, they kept on performing together until they days they died.
