Notes to Persephone

Note 12

Draft 1

By: Chase L. Currie

But I huffed, and puffed, and blew

All the pills into my brainpan

To not hear the raps of the blacken Raven

While an angel tip-toed into my

Study whispering to me

‘Ah, mister, weary and burden

Come with me

Down to the River

To wash away the dirt

To pray on your knees,’

The smile dashed from my lips

Like the Black Cat of my hate

I reached for her hand,

and the pills took it instead.
