Halcyon Days

Halcyon Days

A Poem by Wonderful Letdown
"

Reflecting on a special bond between two people and how much things have changed.

"
It has been yet a year
but feels like a lifetime.
Since the last we sat together
sitting on the grass.

So carefree in our youth
during our odd respite
from life's difficult toils.
Finding solace in each other's company
bonded through our pain.

Our bond was so strong,
unusual to see one without the other.
No secrets between the two,
nothing left to be discovered.

I miss all the days spent together.
Sitting side by side
singing in the sunshine,
laughter in the air,
and smiles upon our lips.

Look at us today,
miles away.
No more than strangers
who share a distant past.

Time and time again,
we find our way back to each other.
It seems no matter how far away
that we always seem to stray.

We will re-unite once again,
our paths are so different.
We cannot walk it together
but our lives are still intertwined.

Two halves,
of the same coin.
Polar opposite in experiences,
yet somehow still the same.

Though I know we will meet again,
I still long for those carefree days,
when we could act our age as teens
and not the adults life has forced us to be.

Yo, I love writing though I suck at grammar/punctuation. It's the only way I can express myself. Don't expect weekly updates. I'm a really irregular kind of writer. Though I hope to improve (as a .. more..
