Cocoon

A love that always picks me up when I am down.

She didn’t know what true love was like

She was used to abuse and stopping the fights

Giving herself over to keep the storm calm

This put her through unbearable harm

 

She didn’t know the tender touch

Of someone who vowed to love her so much

She didn’t know that there was more

Than being beaten and stripped to the core

 

Until another damaged soul entered her life

Then she was able to leave behind strife

He gave himself to her entirely

Without making her pay the unreasonable fee

 

Many had subjected her to the fires of hell

Scars on her soul, a tale to tell

The man saw her pain and wanted to try

To give her a life without any cries

 

He gently took her heart and swapped it for his

Saying "I won’t break yours if you look after this"

He wanted to protect her, so he placed his arms

Around her body, to keep her from harm

 

He took half the bags that weighed down her back

"You can’t do it alone, I’ll take on the slack

For baggage shared takes away half the pain

I’ll stand by your side till your demons are slain"

 

He could see the hurt behind her eyes

Crystalized tears fall behind her disguise

She had worn the mask for far too long

Pretending to be happy despite all that’s wrong

 

Her walls started to crumble with each crack formed

Until a smile appeared and her heart slowly warmed

He wanted to give her a love not experienced

Until the pain of the past has no relevance

 

Two souls connected, two hearts combined

Two lovers genuine, a love for all time

Two people wrapped warmly in loving embrace

Two hearts imprinted with love’s true trace

 

Under the mysterious beauty of the silver moon

They lay down gently in a lover’s cocoon

Their bodies entwined in passions rush

Quivering for more with every touch

 

She now knows love's heavenly glow

So does he, for she did show

How blessed a life can be by a presence

When love is the essential essence

 

Of which these two build their lives together

A foundation to last whatever the weather

Two people united, stronger than the sea

This is the start, the beginning of you and me

AWWWWWWWW that is soooooo sweet *melts* Whoever you wrote this about is one lucky girl that's for sure. I know many girls, myself included, that wishes to have a love like this, so pure and honest, selfless and caring.

I love these lines, they are so sweet and truly touching. So many break hearts, its nice to think there are people out there who are careful with each others.

I love this stanza, sometimes pain and burdens stemming from abuse and hardships can be so hard to carry alone. This shows dedication and commitment in its most unselfish form. Baggage can sometimes break relationships, it is really nice to see in this piece that there are people who work through it together. A beautiful tribute and well written piece. Ill RR some of my friends to read this. So heart warming, a nice piece about two beautiful souls.

This has to be the most romantic 'LOVE' poem I have ever read. Such a 'LOVE' between to kindred spirts personified on this very page..

Your poem really pulled on my heart strings and made me think of my wonderful parents and the love they 'had' for one another. Sadly, my father has since passed but there is not a day that goes by that I know how much he loved my mother and there's not a day goes by that I know how much my mother 'STILL' loves him.

That's a great way to look at it and so true. I can relate to that, i feel that way about my past too. Plus it made me who I am today and if I hadn't gone through all the abuse, there is no way I could face the illness I am fighting now.
