Finally Free

Finally Free

A Poem by Calissa Knox
"

My tribute to 2015

"

The ocean. The waves. The piano keys…

The people passing by, as I walk alone, in a place I’ve never been.

Independence, forgetting the tears of yesterday.

Only feeling what’s right here in front of me…

A world of hope and opportunity…

The chains have lost their grip on me, forever...

And forever, I am free.

Beautiful, Feather. Just beautiful. Your words here just have a way of lifting me up like I am actually free of everything. You are a master of words and a master of tone. Just brilliant. I'm so sorry you haven't heard from me in a while but I've been away. This was an amazing piece to come back to though!

I think of the Eagles song Already Gone…

"So often times it happens that we live our lives in chains
And we never even know we have the key"

A very fine piece of writing.

Optimistic. Always nice to read about optimism.

First line is incredible. Almost generates breeze.

It sure is!! Thank you! :)
The world is truly bright and full of possibilities in this poem. All the troubles, which may have previously hindered your speaker, have been overcome. There is a true sense of liberation in your words, a feeling that the speaker will now fully take advantage of everything life has to offer. Wonderfully done!

You're welcome :-)
this poem made me realize how i had begun to live my life.. although it had little to do with the poem,

Independence, forgetting the tears of yesterday.

Only feeling what’s right here in front of me…

i feel this part is saying we have to live in the now, not yesterday, because yesterday is done and we can't go back and change it.

The chains have lost their grip on me, forever...

And forever, I am free

i just love this part, although i dont know if there is a metaphorical meaning behind the chains, even so the way it was written didnt matter, it's awsome, and i'm beginning to see most of your poems are awsome
