our wedding

our wedding

A Poem by Candy S. Bott

It is 6:04 in the morning, on August 9th 2004

I am freshly showered and impatiently waiting,
for the ceremony to begin.

I don't remember another time when I was more nervous.

It is humid already, the sun is barely peeking up over the horizon.

The waves crashing loudly a mere 100 feet away.

My silk Gladiolas are getting damp in my sweaty hands.

A few friends are standing around in a circle,

with you and I in the middle, and the man,

The man who told us to say I do.
