Torn Away

Torn Away

A Poem by Captain Rilen

It feels like a page,
that's been torn from a book.
Most of it pulled asunder,
apart from a clinging nook.

It cries out to me,
"Don't pull us apart!".
It doesn't seem to realize,
I only got the tear to start.

From there fate had its way,
and took retribution on my heart.
I never knew what I should say,
I guess I'm not that smart.

I feel better now,
the book can almost adjourn.
As it tears itself further,
I cauterize the burn.

It's almost free from me,
It's almost gone.
I'm almost free from it,
Finally I'll be alone.

When that day comes,
I'll look back on it as a farce.
Though for a while yet,
a little pain lingers in my heart.

This poem has a wonderful progression. It's a perfect story of one of life's lower points in retrospect. Yes, a little pain lingers but even that may pass. Fate will no doubt continue to have it's way and here's hoping it keeps getting better. :)
Thanks for sharing your writing Captain R. :) Stay inspired!
