Revealing Light

Revealing Light

A Poem by Caradoc
"

For my friends.

"

Alone I wandered, imprisoned
Within the self doubt,
The loathing of a mired mind
Searching through the darkness
In my Withered Wonderland
Always in vain
For the Light I strove to find

Weak and weary
Through many a midnight
And early morning agony
I longed for what I could not have;
A star, the sunlight, a beautiful face
I glimpsed upon the Moon

I lost my Sunlit Star
Would have thrown myself to void
But the Moon kept me going
So too the Eyes of a fire from long before
Yet it was not enough

An empty heart beat inside the cage of me
Yearning for what could never be
The Moon and I
Echo of a Dark Night Fantasy

Still I tried and for a brief moment
It almost was
But Hope is a dangerous thing
Decency ruined more oft by
Neglect
Than Desire as I once thought

So I ran toward a Queen of Roses
Only to be left to mourn
A fragment of something that never was
Nor that ever will be

And throughout this wandering, searching
Yearning, for the pieces of a broken heart
I found something even better

Three Swords in the darkness of what once was
Revealing the Light
That was always there

And for the first time in so long
I look forward to the Dawn
