And will languish for a long time to come, it seems. Hopefully, there is great pressure from all around, including the Chinese government, to stop the goings on at those wet markets. Here in the US, it looks like we'll continue to drop like flies as long as the orange monster is in control.

yes i totally agree with you about people's ignorance....on many things.
people are just plain lazy, can't be bothered to google for information & also cross-check for accuracy. people just regurgitate stuff they've heard from friends, seen on tv or in the newspapers with all those left-wing biases.

I dont buy into the righty/lefty camping. In my country many righties believe that covid is a hoax, but they still blame it on the Chinese. Its an odd combination of thoughts, but thats nationalist mentality, just regurgitated stuff. Haha

They gave us SARS back in 2002. But in two years there wasn't a single reported case on the planet. This virus is called SARS 2 as well as COVID 19 so it's like the souped up, new and improved version of the other virus. In between now and then they gave us, children's toys with lead and asbestos in them, poison dog treats, flammable kid's clothes and flooded the market with cheap, shabbily made garments, electronics and pretty much all sorts of junk that stocks our local WALMART shelves. I wonder what's coming for Christmas.

yes, cheap chinese crap! i do not understand why western countries don't/can't go back to manufacturing their own of products.
it needs a really good TV marketing program of the benefits to persuade consumers who buy & governments to make it easier with legislation & tax benefits for business people to invest in their own country's future. AND PUT A STOP helping china to ride on western countries backs.
it's high time western countries got together & helped each other out & started ignoring china.
well that's my pennies worth of opinion.

Everybody I know, (both of them) declare they will never again knowingly buy Chinese products.
But that is difficult to not do.

the proliferation of all these discount stores with cheap products mostly made in china is worrying. consumers might enjoy the inexpensiveness of goods, but most of that money ends up going back to china!! it's deplorable.
western countries NEED to back to producing their own.

that's very true junglee, ....but china doesn't want to own up that it's their fault & are a currently trying to stop / block, or dissuade (by economic threats) western countries from holding an investigation as to why & where this started. that's pure evil in my eyes!
scientists here have said it could easily happen again.

taiwan warned the WHO (world health organisation) in november or december last year & they were ignored by WHO because of they are in china politics.
millions of people around the world have contracted this virus & thousands have died from it. it was started by china & aided by the WHO for ignoring the taiwanese warnings.
all this has caused a stressful global economic downturn with people committing suicide because of job or business loss.

About time that we looked very carefully at what is coming out of China. Maybe now in the uk we may consider stepping up our own manufacturing base and producing more of the essentials we need ourselves. There is still a question mark about where this virus came from, whether from the wet markets or a lab. Early days yet, I feel sure that the intelligence will reveal more. Whatever, it needs addressing. I for one won't be purchasing anything which comes out of that place. Many share your passion carola. Take care.

This must be the first thing the Chinese have got right, cos if you go by the stuff that's gets exported around the world, it usually lasts about five minutes before it breaks. This might get countries producing their own merchandise now, and not before time.
