Carterpillar

Carterpillar

A Poem by Carter
"

Written as a prisoner.

"
I thought I was a snake
So quick and slick and sly
But now that I’m awake
I see that was a lie.

I’ve learned I’m just a worm
Caught inside a cocoon.
I pray I’ll break away
From this shell real soon.

I wait for better things
On the other side
Where I can spread my wings
As a butterfly.
