When you are old

When you are old

A Poem by Casanova

When you are old and full of sleep

people think you're an old fart

take down your book of poems

read to them from your heart

And if family and friends roll their eyes

wondering if you're nuts today,

ignore them, but of each write a poem

so after your death you'll have your say

One day they will be old and gray

and recall the love in your soul,

taking your poems by the fire to sit

will see the poet they didn't know

I like this thought. When my brother committed suicide, I hung onto even a few words written here and there. It offered some sort of clue as to what he was feeling. Poetry gives an open window into the soul. Keep on!
