Starstuff

A Poem by Casey Truax

I am not a flock of birds
Nor any bird upon the wing.
I am the undulating form
Its legions, leaving and returning,
Still maintain.

I am not the sand upon the shore
Nor silken cape with foaming crest.
I am the message tides erase,
The wave that lifts new waters
And gives them ancient form.

I am not the plucked nor trembled string,
Nor the players, nor their scores,
Nor conductor with baton:
I am the symphony
That pulses in your ears.

From strawberries to the stars
Run all the marvels I shall know,
And whence I came and whither I shall go
Mean not so much
As whether I shall do.

Our actions are important. Our actions, or sometimes inaction, can speak volumes.
I enjoyed reading this. I loved the feel and imagery from this section in particular:
"I am the message tides erase,
The wave that lifts new waters
And gives them ancient form."

That was pretty cool, you took us through several phases where to do is the most important thing (I think) allowing the ending to close this off nicely.

Action is the key, yes. To think of it another way: form over substance.
Oh wow this is beautiful. There’s like a pull in my heart with this one and I feel sorta wistful. I love the bit about messages and the tides. I like your style of writing. It’s minimalist and I admire that so much because I always feel rambly. Anyway this is really beautiful and the art is so cool as well!!!
