Gypsy soul

                          Gypsy soul

Once,  I walked in the clouds, The highest Honduras mountains, I stood upon. I was a free man.

Once,  I danced with the Pacific, the Winter storms taught me. We are the sea.

Once I was alone. Love blessed me and now I have grandchildren to dance with till my ending.

Once I needed nothing, my Gypsy heart needed the long day, friendship near and abundance of laughter near.

I was born free of rules, borders and not bounded by the need to own everything.

I fell into the chaos of life, into the foolishness of war and I listen to the naysayers.

Today my old eyes, my old body know,

I am not done, we must seek the sweetest honey, places where love can grow.

Teach the children the song of the sea, listen to the wind.

To walk into a cloud and be blessed by the sun.

I feel my Gypsy soul and I know,

we are what we leave behind.

I pray my grandchildren remember, their grandfather danced with the sea and he loved them the most.

The chaos of life...aptly named, John. You have many tales to tell your grandchildren...some good and others that will need to remain your own until the grandkids are able to handle them.
But, if they read this poem, it should be enough to teach them that gypsy hearts can find peace.
Take them to dance in the sea my friend.

beautiful sentiments about the really important things .. even those who never wondered can relate to your gypsy soul Coyote Man ... blessed to read this poem as your attention and focus changes ... racking up the hours and days does make a difference ... especially for those who will hear the sea and its susurrations ..your clouds actually came down to me yesterday early morning when i took my dogs out .. really early, like about 3 am .. we had such a thick fog rolling up the holler .. it wrapped me up in it .. this poem evokes such a respect ... i do feel i know you a bit Johnny .. from your poetry over that last several years .. you have had quite a life .. and as you tell your grandchildren your stories i am sure they will not forget your face .. love on ya brother! great read for me!

Thank you my friend. You are very kind to me.
I don't think we will ever be done with life. it is a constant adventure all of us want to enjoy.....
By the way I am sure your grandchildren feel very lucky to have such an amazing elder in the family.....
Beautifully worded :)

Never, never, 'Just words', John!

' To walk into a cloud and be blessed by the sun. - I feel my Gypsy soul and I know, - we are what we leave behind.' Perhaps that's what we should all search for, even at minimum. To know one's shadow has light within it, is both humbling and rich. Your many and potent words over the years have proved just that. You're a fine teacher..

A heartfelt and sweetly written account of a man's life and how swiftly it passes leaving him to watch the youth take his place upon the stage. Yet there is a sort of peace in ending.

The gypsy soul, you capture the essence well, Coyote, the gypsy soul flying free but tethered to the family, to walk in a cloud and be blessed by the sun, it sounds like you have, and you liked it, as did I,

Just words, but very good ones. Words that have meaning and value. The young ones often tend to not care about old people's tales but when they', themselves, have seen many seasons, they see how precious they are.
