 He never left Michigan
Years ago. I saw the whole world. Drank wine in Basel and Paris, dance in the streets of Florence and read poetry at Hyde Park in London.
I walked in the clouds in the Honduras mountains. I  suicided boarded the Pacific ocean and my feet touched 40 countries and drank the Hemingway whiskey in every one. I crossed the USA four times and I befriended many.
I found five children alone with a kind women. I learn and I wasn’t important. Drinking, dancing and travel man stayed with sweet woman and the children taught him. Life is in the front of us.
Now the old man won’t drink wine in Paris or Basel. He drink kool-aid with his grandchildren. He won’t dance in the streets of Florence, he dances by Lake Huron with his laughing boys. He will never see Hyde park again, he read his poetry at the Utica and Sterling Height libraries.
Traveling and rambling man never complained. He learn. Don’t need everything, we just need enough. Grand-boy Jaden tell him daily. I love you Grandpa. Kind words, more than enough for me.

Thank you my friend for reading and the comment. We must travel, have fun and find our proper place.
“We don’t need everything, we just need enough” are some of the wisest words ever written, Coyote. In a material world, it’s a lesson difficult to embrace and one we often miss or get too late in life. So much truth and wisdom in this poem, and made even better with the personal stories and photograph.
