The killing's gotta stop

We are one people and this is one earth.

If we stand together as one people.

500,000 people standing for the cause of human rights.

We can save our world.

We live in a messy world,

government separated children from parent in California,

children locked-up, alone and forgotten.

Our government is color blind,

the poor have been forgotten. A rich man world, has been for a long time.

The government wanted the Sioux nation land,

had soldiers ready to erase another great tribe.

Few stood with them.

A poor man killed in Minnesota,

George Floyd,

he is in my prayers and I pray.

The people stop the riots,

destroying your cities is foolish.

Where do you live and buy things?

The businesses being ransacked are just common people owned,

people of all color trying to survive.

We live in a messy world,

we must stand as one for our world.

A burn-down world, a hateful world.

Would be nightmare for all.

We need to follow the way of Martin Luther King Jr.

Stand as one in the streets and demand human rights,

safety for all and all people, can live without threats.

Thank you for reading.

Black men murder more black men in Detroit alone in one year, then all the police departments in America have killed black men in the last twenty years combined. "We live in a messy world" indeed, but also a conflicted one. We Americans have normalized murder. I mean, if you don't brandish a gun in a cop show, then where's the intrigue? Who is the protagonist? And since the plot line cant be blind, there has to be a constant inference to human destruction (aside from dialogue) just to hold the audiences attention. This is heavy hitting poetry my friend advocation revolutionary reform. And prayer, given what has already taken place, should be considered as revolutionary reform......well done...dana

yes it's a sad & complex world, good for you to raise this topic via poetry.

i don't believe it's all racism, i think it's a dislike of bad & selfish behaviour by many people. also many people are just plain angry at everything & want to destroy whatever happens to get in their way. they all need to go to anger management classes.

i also think your american police are very poorly trained, & then there is this american mentality where (mostly men) love their guns, probably more than they love their wives! also they have never outgrown the american poineering mentality from over 300+ years ago where they killed all the indians so as to access all the land. nowadays the american blacks have become a replacement for the indians in the killings of yesteryear.

but i don't think the blame belongs to the rich people, they are your philanthropists who sponsor hospitals, museums, etc. & other good causes for the people at large.

i personally i think, a lot can be blamed on the marketing of products on TV, billboards etc. which creates a needless want in impulsive people who thrive on retail therapy. they will buy 'cuz it's the latest thing & overspend 'cuz they aren't clever, & are impulsive & don't think about how to manage their money so as not to have huge debts. (stupidity should be painful in my opinion, some people only learn through pain)

also many people want things for FREE & aren't prepared to work & save for it...look at all the looting going on during the protests.

i saw a black american woman protestor on our TV who when interviewed said, "people ask why do you burn down your buildings in your neighbourhood, because we don't own our neighbourhood, we don't own anything" .... now how stupid is that ???
if i owned residential buildings & a shopping mall & it got burned down by protestors, i wouldn't be bothered re-building in a poorer area. so then the poor people will have no closeby shopping mall & now have to find somewhere else to live, plus then there is their loss of personal property, then there is all the job losses 'cuz the retail shops that were burned. so it will affect THEM hugely, & not your rich people.
as i said before, for many people stupidity needs to be painful for lessons to be learned, of what not to do, & even then the stupid ones will blame everyone else but never look at their own attitudes & behaviour.

the building owner will most likely get his insurance payout & if not, maybe a tax deduction for property loss.

i saw a very good u-tube video clip by a black american woman her name is candace owens who really hit the nail on the head & got it right. here is the link >>> https://youtu.be/JtPfoEvNJ74

The buck stops with the man at the top, the great leader.
Every time he opens his mouth the volcano erupts and America goes into free fall.
I actually thought for a time this would be the change needed, but then the idiots started on the statues, and now I think racism will get even worse now.

You said it all! It's such a sad time we live in right now. The president treats people badly and us rude! Racism has been around for so long, and after almost 50 years since Martin Luther King's, "I have a dream" speech, we are no closer to his dream! I believe he would be so sad and disappointed if he saw the world today! Thank you for sharing your words!

Everything you’ve said here touched the reader. People are trying to survive. Politics is far from their minds. Better to unite for their rights. Well said!

Always a pleasure dear friend.
Hard to say what it will take to change the thinking, John, and it's not just the states with this problem.
The riots in the sixties were probably worse, and yet here we are, fifty years later and still dealing with the issues.
There is no excuse for what that cop did and there should be none offered. We can only hope that the trial will produce the proper ending.
There will be no forgetting ... but there can be forgiving.

Stay safe.

Racism and equal rights. A never-ending battle. Thank you Ted for reading and the comment.
So hard to watch this taking place on your side of the pond. So much hatred. So much destruction. This poor man's name is being sullied by riots. They serve no purpose. It seems that peaceful demonstrations have been hijacked by some with alternative motives. Heavy tactics by the police. Anarchy. Incredibly sad. A strong write Coyote.
