Fall, the falling leaves

Fall, the falling leaves

A Poem by Coyote Poetry
"

Forgiveness is never easy.

"
Fall, the falling leaves

Once I ran away from sadness/heartbreak and I sought escape.
The running man can't run no-more.

Once fearless man learn, love was vengeance,
love would leave you bare and teach you to weep.

Now I see the fainting sun,
and regret, faces and places appear in dark dreams.

Old age had recline me into chaos and questions.
Do I forgive myself? Do I forgive the sins done to me in my backward life?

Do wounds stopped bleeding? Once I was the drunk poet and
now I am the sober writer who live to paper,
maybe seeking solitude?

I have become more Salinger than Hemingway.
But now, my lofty mind seeking proper ending.
The falling leave, the song of Autumn is teaching me.

I must forgive.
Reopen bled-out wounds,
repair walls of separation.

Am I brave enough?
Love had saved me and regret had slowed me down.
I know now.

Love and hate can't be held in one heart.
The mind need to learn.
Release the hurt and allow the love in.

Closed doors, if we don't open.
Will be forever locked.
And we will languished in things,
we should of done and said.

Maybe today,
I will seek places of regret.
Maybe tears may fall,
maybe I can find forgiveness?

Coyote John you have penned a wonderful self examination of one who sees the years slip past and regrets that done and that yet not complete. You write this in a wise voice and I simply adore that line "I have become more Salinger than Hemingway." Beautiful music too!

Your welcome my friend.
This poem really speaks to me. Forgiveness is one of the hardest things a human deals with especially to oneself. I love the way you describe the struggle. Thank you for sharing. Best wishes to you.

Regret and forgiveness are the themes of this one and important ones they are. The speaker is looking back over a lot of years and recalling both the mistakes and wounds of life. Forgiveness of others and of self now seem of prime importance and there is the intent to find them. Of course all of those who come to this stage have learned from the past; they are the fortunate ones, unlike those who face the sunset in bitterness and remorse. Thus all mistakes were only lessons and forgiveness is only a just reward.

Hi Coyote,

Tonight, I found some time from the busy-ness of my life, and the very first stuff that I read on here is your poetry - the words of wisdom. Really loved reading throu' the epic you have come up with. I am really glad to see you still writing and sharing your work w/ your friends. Pleased to read your work after so many years...

... been so many years since I last visited this site or may be used to write and post on here, though still the scent of olden memories remain young-er and prime forever, esp. every time I visit this cafe's site. Honestly speaking.

Also, I loved the you tube video you attached to your work. Beautiful heartfelt song... so much and many things to resonate from your work and this song. Indeed.

Keep up the good work, my friend. Looking forward to reading your work. 100/100

dearest John... forgiveness is a gift you give yourself... it is written in the Book... then we learn to “Let go”. So little time and so many blessings to bestow. gently, Pat

Thank you dear Pat. Hard to release, but one day we must.

Reflection can be something of a double edged sword can't it John.. when one asks those age old questions, why and what if ... these words are clearly the words of a man looking back over time and wondering ... Old words maybe .. but characteristically Coyote & beautiful my friend...

Thank you Neville. The longer we live, the more we understand.
You must learn to forgive yourself Coyote or otherwise you don't find peace. Three weeks ago, I penned my own poem on this very subject matter, but I haven't even posted it yet. That tells me something. We all make mistakes, we all take decisions we may regret, but it is all part of the learning curve an should be accepted in good grace. I ask myself why we find it so hard to be kind to ourselves. Much wisdom in your words. We can tell others and yet be harsh to ourselves.

With hindsight the things we would have done differently :)
We become wise far to late in our lives.
Probably the best of yours that I have read, and what a tragedy for all that Eva C was taken so young.
Hope you are keeping well my friend

I can feel your struggle in your words here; we are haunted by the mistakes and regrets of the past and as the twilight of life descends, so too does the need to right all the past wrongs and achieve a sense of peace. One must try to not leave life without expending all his love and saying all his sorries. It's an admirable quality to chase and your poem makes the profundity of your decision well known to the reader. A most generous poem of introspection. 💛
