Coyote song

A Poem by Coyote Poetry
"

We need to be free to learn and dream. If we get lock in a cage. We are just waiting for death.

"

 Coyote song

Beautiful Lady dressed in a black dress.
Blue eyes like a clear river.
Holding the talisman in her hands.
Against her heart.
Her red hair blowing in the Seaside breeze.

  Whisper run Coyote run.
She put the talisman around my neck.

I'm being strangle by so many rules.
I can't find my way back.
I got lost on my journey.

My lady Shaman brings me close.
We dance upon the naked beach.
She feels my disease.

  She tells me.
You are black in spirit.
The Coyote spirit must run free.

  The Coyotes were my friend.
Few of us are still roaming.
I yearn to find my lost comrades.

  Run with the wind.
Break down the paper thin wall of bullshit
Surrounding my life.

  Be free.
Howl and yell at the moon.

  When your dreams died.
We are just waiting for death to free us.

  My blue eye friend.
I hold her tight.
I smell strawberry in her hair.
The cold of the California night.
Bring us closer together.

She give me long and sweet kisses.
Maneuver her body around.
Lift her dress.
Wraps her legs around me.

Her eyes look deep into my soul.

  She whisper.
You are blinded by lies and storytellers.
You can't see beyond this day.
Your hope has disperse into the wind.

  Don't wait for Death.
He will come soon enough.

We fall asleep on the beach.
The ocean music brings a peaceful sleep.

  I dream.
I'm running with the Coyotes.
I'm dancing and howling at the moon.
I'm swimming in joy.

  The morning light appear.
My woman of kindness.
Kisses me and tells  me goodbye for a time.

She raises her hands to the sky.
Be free.
Don't be a dog on a chain.
Brake the chain of disappointment.
Don't be afraid of what is in front of your life.

I watch my protector, my friend and lover
drive away.

I look at the sun, the ocean.
I thank the lord of life and death for her.

  I hear the Coyotes.
They are calling out my name.
Telling me to attack life like a wild beast.

  Eat flesh, taste the blood.
Allow it to penetrate the heart and soul.

  Be strong.
Died for a  worthwhile battle.

  Not like cattle.
Being led to slaughter.

  The Coyote can't be tamed.

Us human are being led to the slaughterhouses
by wealthy and powerful men.

  Escape.

  Run with the wild beast.

Wow, this was really powerful and impactful. This stanza resounded most strongly :
"She tells me.
You are black in spirit.
The Coyote spirit must run free."

There's just something in this that I can't put my finger on- perhaps its the suspicion that we're really not who we are today inside, and the primal desire we all have to break out and run free...

Too many fine passages to call out, but:

I hear the Coyotes.
They are calling out my name.
Telling me to attack life like a wild beast.

Eat flesh, taste the blood.
Allow it to pentrate the heart and soul.

Be strong.
Died for a worthwhile battle.

Not like cattle.
Being led to slaughter.

that one, will resonate with me, for a millenia of moment.
Enjoying your style friend. You have a raw innocence, mixed in with the passion of a desert tempest.

Never stop howling, it becomes you.

Obviously a moment of tremendous impact in your life, a moment of realization, given to you as a gift by the woman and by yourself in accepting her gift. As always, you've got tremendously vivid images here bringing the reader along with you on this incredible journey - the one that ended, and the one the began with this place and time, as expressed in this piece, serving as the bridge.

Wonderful poem! Full of meanings and emotions. I think more and more of us are feeling this longing to return to the freedoms of our ancestors. Thank you for sharing.

You have a lot of instances where you aren't using the correct variation of particular words, and that's a shame because it might turn some people off. It turned me off a little bit but jeeeze, you only learn through reading and writing and we are all on learning curves so that's ok.

I think that this comes across as believable because it is quite well crafted, I mean, I think you've got a really good ear for how poetry sounds and will be read, and an idea of how to string those words together to give the poetry life. I think rhythm really is hal the battle because movement is life and so poetry arcs and pauses and rushes and builds, it does all these sorts of things and becomes life, so if you can breathe that into the words then that is half the battle, after that comes the quality of the content and how it's structured, because words and ideas and metaphors etc are devices that we use to tell a story and probably more pertinently, to bring meaning and significance to the thing.

I think you are doing goodstuff here, there's room for improvement on both fronts but for this visit i just wanted to say that despite the things that do let this down a bit, it's still better by far that a lot of what is on offer at this site because of the life the words have. Rhythm is important, yours is good.

I would've sworn I have read this before and commented.
I really liked reading this and the story it told.

And of course it reminds me of the Coyotes that sing here
at night (but not of late, hmmmm) and how their song lifts my spirit
and sometimes brings a tear or three.

Peace n Light
